seca – awarded for design excellence

- Quality and functionality are probably the two most important attributes when it comes to developing a new product. But, a product’s design is just as essential, as the design will automatically determine usability and acceptance amongst its users. With the many top-class awards that seca has received over the years, the company has proven time and again that combining user-oriented technology and intelligent details with perfect design is one of the their core strengths. This year, for example,seca has been awarded the iF Design Award, not in one category, but in two: for the revolutionary medical Body Composition Analyzer seca mBCA 525, as well as for the ingenious seca Service Concept.

Since its establishment in 1953, the iF Design Award, which stands for ‘The International Forum Design GmbH’, has become the worldwide renowned trade-mark when it comes to excellent design. The iF Design Award has established an international reputation as one of the most important prizes for awarding design worldwide. This can be seen in the list of companies who so far have been nominated and awarded for outstanding work. On this list, for example, is Apple, winning the iF Gold Award for their Apple watch in 2015. This specific prize aims to recognize and celebrate excellent products. The lifestyle brand Adidas has also won an iF award for their fitness watch FIT SMART.

It is therefore not surprising that once again, a large number of companies and individuals applied for this year’s award. The international and prestigious jury made up of 60 experts had 5,000 applicants from 53 different countries to choose from. seca winning not one, but two prizes, is therefore a true achievement!

The medical Body Composition Analyzer seca mBCA 525 won an award in the ‘Product’ category for its unique design, its mobile functionality, and its performance. This product has also been awarded the Good Design Award, which is renowned as one of the leading prizes for excellence in design and innovation worldwide.

But back to the iF Design Award: in the category ‘Service Design’ the seca Service Concept was awarded for its elaborate service package, offering standardization and calibration service as well as repair service for all scale types from any manufacturer. With this, a forward-thinking product in terms of innovation, precision and material quality defines seca standards. The service standards which seca’s tradition honors highly, have with this award been able to hold their ground against high-class competitors for the second time now. Aside from being awarded the iF prize, the seca Service Concept has also won the Service Management Prize from the Service Association Germany, Europe’s largest service organisation.

 

Currently, seca is working on new products and services which meet the highest quality and design standards – to continue winning many more prizes in the future.

By the way: seca has been awarded the iF Design Award 21 times for various products. The seca mBCA 515 even won the eligible iF Gold Award. What a great success!
