ESPEN 2015: BIA recognized as diagnostic tool in nutrition medicine
The largest nutrition medicine congress in Europe attracted about 3000 renowned research scientists and doctors who specialize in nutrition. The highly qualified forum participants discussed the latest findings in clinical nutrition. Effective support with diagnoses and therapy monitoring of nutritional disorders, agreed the experts on the ESPEN committee, are possible only with a precise body composition analysis like the one delivered by the seca mBCA.
The FFMI and phase angle in particular are becoming more important in nutrition medicine. During the opening presentation the speaker emphasized the importance of FFMI in the detection of malnutrition. Accordingly, it was added earlier this year to the ESPEN Guidelines "Diagnostic criteria for malnutrition - An ESPEN Consensus Statement". The use of the phase angle as an assessment factor in nutrition medicine was the subject of many sessions and posters.
Throughout the four-day congress the team demonstrated how user-friendly and precise Body Composition Analysis is with the seca mBCA.
The seca Team made the congress the site for an advance look at the seca mBCA 525, the new, compact analysis unit that raises the mobile body composition analysis to a new level.
