Chairpersons for the BIA symposium are Prof. Dr. Manfred J. Mueller (Institute of Human Nutrition and Food Science, Christian-Albrechts-University Kiel, Germany) and Prof. Dr. Marinos Elia (Institute of Human Nutrition and Faculty of Medicine, University of Southampton, Southampton General Hospital, United Kingdom). 

Prof. Dr. Elia will make a presentation on "BIA in malnutrition" and Prof. Dr. Dympna Gallagher of New York, USA, a recognized expert in the field of body composition, will speak on the subject of "Ethnic differences in body composition".  The question of "How to validate BIA?" will be taken up by Prof. Dr. Anja Bosy-Westphal, physician and nutritionist at Christian-Albrechts-University Kiel, Germany. Dr. Kristina Norman, nutritionist at Charité Berlin, Germany, will report on the "Clinical applicability of BIA and BIVA" and Dr. Torsten Slowinski, nephrology and dialysis expert at Charité Berlin, Germay, explains "Use and limits of BIA for dialysis patients".
